The Fethiye / Calis Beach area

About the Turquoise Cost:

Steeped in history and with a stunning coastline and scenery, the Turquoise Coast is a fantastic holiday destination, offering something for everyone. The climate in Fethiye is hot in summer, warm in spring and autumn, and mild in winter, making it a good choice for winter breaks as well as summer sun. The region has many historic sites within driving distance, including the ancient ruins of Tlos and Xanthos, the abandoned village of Kaya and the rock tombs at Fethiye. Gocek town and marina, with upmarket shops and restaurants and laid-back atmosphere, is a short drive up the coast.

 About Fethiye and Calis Beach:

Fethiye is a vibrant town with local bazzars, shops, restaurants, cinema, nightclubs in a beautiful setting with a large marina of boats offering day trips & excursions around the 12 Islands, Butterfly valley, Blue bays, Rhodes,  Marmaris, Pammukale, Cappadocia, Gocek, Kalkan, Patara Beach and Gulet hire. There are several excellent diving school boats available at the marina for hire for beginners or the more advance diver. Paragliding, Wind & Kite surfing is also available locally. Calis is a few minutes drive from Fethiye ( cheap local mini buses run every few minutes or you can take a boat Dolmus in the summer months ) Calis is a beach resort with a nice promenade full of friendly restaurants and bars. It is a quiet resort but it still has its fair share of restaurants, shops and bars, the long beach is a favourite with holidaymakers because it doesn't get too crowded and there is a constant sea breeze. The famous 'Caretta Turtles' come to this beach to lay their eggs so if you keep your eyes peeled you may catch sight of one. Small water park nearby and also in Hisaronu. Nice and flat so easy to walk or cycle and always with fabulous mountain and island views.

The apartment is an easy flat walk of 20 minutes to the beach and the resort centre. The beach in Calis is shingle and stretches for many miles. There is a cooling breeze which is very welcome in the height of summer.
The promenade is lined with restaurants and bars from where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
In Calis there is a waterpark, plenty of shops, some watesports and a Sunday market. There are plenty of agencies organising tourist trips within the resort.

The dolmus to Fethiye city centre is running in every 15 minutes in season, in the street parallel to that of the apartment complex and can be reached in one minute walk. The ride to Fethiye city centre takes about 15 minutes. As an alternative, more romantic, solution, Fethiye can be reached by water taxi departing from the centre of Calis.

The whole neighbourhood can be visited by ‘dolmus’es departing from the central dolmus terminal in Fethiye. Fethiye old town centre invites you to explore it, you can wonder in the bazaar and the port and you can bargain on the Tuesday market for the best Turkey may offer.
